Fellowship With The Word

You are an heir of God - A Possessor!

Romans 8:17 AMPC [17] And if we are [His] children, then we are [His] heirs also: heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ [sharing His inheritance with Him]; only we must share His suffering if we are to share His glory.

Anything in life can be abused when its purpose is not known or understood. Knowledge is essential to keeping us within the bounds of proper use. Everybody attests, even without being a believer in Jesus, that the death of Christ was vicarious and terribly gruesome. And we know that He didn't just die to show that he could take on the worst. He had something in mind when he endured all that He did. It was because of you reading right now. There was a quality of life He envisioned you would have, which gave Him even more reason to hold on. It is by his death and resurrection that we now realize God’s dream from before time began. That is why it is so significant. He has always wanted a family on earth that will share in his life. The word used for children in the opening is derived from the Greek word 'teknon,' meaning “descendants, or a child,” and refers to one who is native-born and shares DNA with the one who brings them forth. James puts it this way in James 1:17-18 (NLT) 'Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father... He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession. ' And as children, we are heirs of God. But when you study the word heir, you realize that the Word for it is 'kleronomos,' a partitioning, an apportionment, a sharer by lot, or a possessor or an inheritor. You partake in a partitioning. You share in an inheritance. And by birth, you are a possessor. So, the one who is born of God (born again) cannot be empty. You cannot claim to be useless or have nothing to offer. Not only is it a lie, but it’s also a display of ignorance. The responsibility lies in the discovery of the inheritance. Paul helps with this in Ephesians 1:14 (AMP) 'The Spirit is the guarantee [the first installment, the pledge, a foretaste] of our inheritance until the redemption of God’s own [purchased] possession [His believers], to the praise of His glory. ' The Spirit of God dwelling in you is the promise, the guarantee, and the “all things” that God has to offer. If someone gave themselves to you, they gave you all they had. The Spirit is the reason you can partake, share, or participate in the divine life. Peter says it this way in 2 Peter 1:4 (NLT), 'And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires. ' I hope we can appreciate God's love and generosity towards us even better. PRAYER: Lord Jesus, thank you for the inheritance that I have in you. Thank you for making me an heir and a possessor of all that you have. By your Spirit living in me, my eyes are flooded with light to know and understand the inheritance which I have received. I appreciate your love even better. Amen!
