Fellowship With The Word
2 Corinthians 5:21 (AMP) 'He made Christ who knew no sin to [judicially] be sin on our behalf, so that in Him we would become the righteousness of God [that is, we would be made acceptable to Him and placed in a right relationship with Him by His gracious lovingkindness].'

Please anchor your convictions on these words. They'll change your approach to prayer. Sometimes the reason why we don't appreciate our position in Christ is that we don’t understand how far gone and hopeless we were in darkness before Christ saved us. The opening verse paints a picture of Christ's substitutionary sacrifice. Among other definitions, Righteousness can be referred to as right standing or right relationship with God because of Christ. But we didn't always have this right relationship with God. We have a right relationship because a reconciliation took place. A reconciliation was necessary because sin brought enmity. And there was nothing you or I could do to restore that broken relationship. Not even the best of our good works could help us. In fact, Isaiah interestingly categorizes the best of our righteousness as a cloth or rag stained with menstrual flux (when you consider the original Hebrew word) in Isaiah 64v6 (ESV) '... and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment… ' Sometimes the reason believers condemn themselves after a mistake and even refuse to forgive themselves, even if God forgives them, is that they think their righteous works counted towards God's disposition to them, or how favorably God looked at them. In the benevolence of God, and despite the fact that we messed up, He took responsibility to reconcile us to Himself. So Christ took your place in sin, so that you might take his place in righteousness. Now the reason why this is important is that it is the MAJOR reason why you can have the confidence for answered prayer as your right. When the scripture says to come boldly before the throne of grace to obtain mercy... (Hebrews 4v16), That assurance is founded upon this reality of righteousness. The assurance of a Highpriest who was touched by our weaknesses and infirmity when he identified with your sin, and positioned you in his right relationship with the Father. So EVERY CONFIDENCE YOU HAVE IS ROOTED IN CHRIST'S OBEDIENCE. Not your fasting (still fast for the right reasons), not your giving (still give for the right reasons), or any works you can do to qualify yourself for God's best. That's where prayer starts. Upon justification by faith. All of that to say... trust in, and depend on the obedience of Christ for answered prayers. And see yourself in the seat of Christ. You will see results in your prayer! Prayer: Father, I stand confident in all that Christ has accomplished for me. I appreciate Christ's obedience even more, seeing that I have been the subject of your love all the while. I acknowledge that your nature of righteousness causes me to live right, not my efforts. Thank you, Lord.
