Fellowship With The Word

What Is Gods Will?

I Timothy 2:3-4 NKJV “For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

When we talk about God's will, what do we even mean? The word will is from the Greek 'thelema', which means one's choice, purpose, determination, or inclination. It is the pleasure or desire of someone. So, God's will represent God's choice, his purpose, his determinations, and inclinations. It will also represent his pleasures and desires. God has expressed his desires and pleasures, his choice, purposes, and inclinations to us in his Word. But when we say in his word, we mean in the revelation of Jesus. Jesus was the visible manifestation of God's will here on earth. That is why he said, "This is my beloved Son in whom I am WELL PLEASED."(Matt 3v17). So when you look at God's pleasure and desire, it is captured in salvation when Paul in 1Tim 2:3-4 expresses his pleasure first for all men to be saved, then to come to the full recognition and knowledge of Jesus. When you look at his inclinations, it is to His nature of love, so Paul says in Eph 5v1-2 to be imitators of God as you walk in love. When you look at his purposes and determinations, in Eph 2v10 Paul writes that [10] ...we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. That is still dealing with his will. When you come to the knowledge of God, you'd realize that his will is for you to no longer live for yourself but for him who died for you as captured in Galatians 2:20 NKJV. II Corinthians 5:14-15 NKJV [14] For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; [15] and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. This understanding informs your submission to and execution of the good works that He has predetermined for us in Christ before the foundation of the world. Those good works are the specific things that culminate to form your purpose. It is this execution that is the participation with God in His plan. However, on a daily basis, how does all this translate even to every decision you take? Jesus said My sheep hear my voice, I know them, and they follow. (John 10v26) By the reality of the new birth in Jesus, God's will has been wired into our spirits when his Spirit came to live in our spirit and became one with ours. (see Ezek 11v19, 36v26, Jer 31v33, Heb 8v10). First settle it in you that all children of God hear God's voice. Most times, we don't discern even when we hear His voice because of distraction and ignorance. That is where the importance of always praying and fellowshipping comes in. Because in prayer and fellowship, focus and Communication come in because of the influence of God's Spirit. The scripture says the Spirit of God teaches us all things (1 John 2v27). In the teaching process, your mind is renewed, or your manner of thinking changes. And that change in thought pattern positions you to approve what God's will is, which is good, acceptable, and perfect. The more understanding you have, and the more transformed your mind is about Jesus through fellowship, the more awareness of his will you attain, and the easier and more confident you will be in participation in it. PRAYER: Father, thank you for revealing your will to me in the person of Jesus Christ. You are more interested in my growth in the knowledge of you more than I could ever be and for that, I am grateful. I pray that this knowledge informs every decision that I make, and every action that I take. Thank you because my steps are ordered by you. I yield to your leading and direction and I depend on you to do the works that have been written in the volume of the books for my life. In jesus name I pray, amen.
