Romans 8:17 AMPC [17] And if we are [His] children, then we are [His] heirs also: heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ [sharing His inheritance with Him]; only we must share His suffering if we are to share His glory.
Log in to save this devotionalThe first highlight is that we are His children which comes from the Greek word 'teknon' (His descendants). And as children, we are heirs of God. But when you study the word heir, you realize that the Word for it is 'kleronomos'. That means you partake in a partitioning. You share in an inheritance. And by birth you are a possessor. So, the one who is born again is not empty. You cannot claim to be useless or have nothing to offer. Not only is it a lie, but it’s also a display of ignorance. The responsibility lies in the discovery of the inheritance. But that's not all. It says we are joint heirs with Christ. Now this is very significant because it gives a pointer to what the inheritance is. So, the question will be... _what did Christ inherit as an heir? Seeing that we are joint heirs with Him. (Romans 4v13, Gal 3v27-29) PRAYER: Lord Jesus, thank you for the inheritance that I have in you. Thank you for making me an heir and a possessor of all that you have. As your spirit leads, may I continue to walk in the life and authority that you have given to me. Amen!
